Today I was so nervous because...

Today I was so nervous because...

I had to present my presentation on Steve Irwin. My name was called out after Briana’s. WOW was I nervous. I was so worried. But when the time came for me to present, I stood up and thought....just get it over and done with so I won’t have to worry about the massive shadow hanging over my back. I had some s-stuttering happening in my mouth. Sometimes I would get confused with the words and have to go back and re-read the sentence all over again. It got a bit easier to talk over the presentation because I started to get a bit more confident.

I’m back and ready to blog.

I’m back and ready to blog.

I am nearly finished with my Affective Domain on Steve Irwin. I just need to gather some more facts and then put them into my Prezi.

Here are some did you know facts about Steve Irwin

-Steve Irwin was scared to death of parrots, especially the Sulfur Crested Cockatoo. When Steve was four years old he nearly had his nose bitten off by his father’s pet Sulfur Crested Cockatoo.

-Steve and Terri’s daughter Bindi Sue Irwin is named after Steve’s favorite crocodile and his Staffordshire Bullterrier cross Sui.

-Steve had two sisters, Mandy and Joy.

Here are some of Steve Irwin’s awards that I like.

1997 whilst on a fishing trip with his father, Steve discovered a new species of turtle. Steve was given the honour of naming the newly discovered species and named it after his family; Irwin's Turtle Elseya Irwini.

2000 Awarded the Sunshine Coast Tourism Memorial Award 2000 for ‘Most Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’.
Awarded Honorary Senior Fellow by the University of the Sunshine Coast.

2003 Named Queenslander of the Year.

Clay Day!

Yay! Today I started my passion project which was Clay 101. In Clay 101 we had to make a face for first time clay workers. We had to pat down the clay on the board. When I had to pat down the clay some of the clay would pop out and flick you and it really hurt my knees because my jeans have ripped knees because I would always slide on my knees at home on the carpet. When I was making the facial features I had to keep cutting the nose and mouth in half because the mouth and nose didn't look right and it took me about six tries until it was absolutely right. In the end I had everything in the right spot and it was time to go and blog.

Bye.

My hippo is here!

My hippo is finished.

Hi. I finished my hippo. Today was also my first try at inking my background. On my first try I had it at least 1cm away from it being smack bam and in line with my background. The second time it tried it the lines were perfect.

The colours.
The first try: Pink background and grey hippo.
The second try: Pink background and purple hippo.

Grey Hippo on it's way...

Yippee! I finished carving out my background on my lino print of my hippo. I'm thinking of doing the hippo grey and the background blue so it will look like he is swimming around in the sea. When I was about to start inking it Katie said that it was time to pack up and go to lunch. I was happy when lunch time came because I was STARVING because I was working so hard on carving out the lino print. So that is all that I thought was exciting for today.

Tune in next week for more exciting stories by of course me.

Hello.
Today was a very sad day because...

The End...
Today was the end of editing the MADE Awards. It is looking fabulous and amazing. I am proud of all the hard work we put into the commercial. All the filming, editing and the script rehearsal. The hardest part for the MADE Awards is the acting and everyone in my group will probably say that in their blog as well.
The least challenging part was when we were editing the footage and putting in all of the effects. But anyway this is the end of the MADE Awards. Goodbye MADE Awards wait a minute... I think I will do this next year...... Maybe?

The Beginning...
When Katie said that we had to do a Passion project. But Travis, Rhylee and I asked Katie if we would be able to join Darryn's art group. Katie said that we would have to ask him if we could join the group. So we went and asked him if we could join and he said yes.  Darryn said that the first thing that we had to do was to find an image to trace around and when we found the image to trace around we had to go and get him to check it was suitable. This is my image that I am tracing and then going to carve it out, ink it and print it.

Info-graphics

You might be thinking, "hmm what are info-graphics?"
Well info-graphics are types of presention tools. Today we looked at Prezi. Prezi is a free online site. Prezi is like keynote (a presentation tool), but it has more personality and is a lot more fun to use. In Prezi you can make your own presentations to create and share with friends.

Prezi is a lot of fun. If you want to try out Prezi click on the link below. Here is the link to Prezi. prezi.com
Check it out now. I guarantee you'll love this site just like I do!
Here is my Prezi.

Calligraphy WritingHi. In the afternoon all of the Enrich Kids did Calligraphy writing because we only had 14 kids at school. We had a practice sheet that we had to copy and when we finished the practice sheet we got to do our name and our friends and family's names in calligraphy writing. When we finished writing our names in calligraphy Jenni gave us a choice on what we wanted to do when we were finished. The choices were... 1. to think of a shape and then write what we wanted to: e.g live life as best as you can in a heart shape and  2. make a word block.See you later.

Patterns of Behaviour

Patterns of Behaviour

Hello.
Today I did patterns of behaviour with Katie. In patterns of behaviour Katie was telling us what the patterns of behaviour were.

The Basics
Katie gave us a sheet with a bunch of random words that were placed in different places. Katie said we had to get three coloured crayons and made a key. (Eg) my key was Green = Feelings, Purple = Behaviour and Pink = Throughts.

Next Thing
Next Katie said that we had to make a list of behaviours that we thought were Unlearnt and Learnt. We had to make a list with ten ideas on it then we had to share what they were.

Psychological and Spatial Drama!
(These are not games).

Today we did some Psychological and Spatial Drama
(again these are not games).

Spatial Drama
(10 second objects)

Spatial drama is a type of Drama where you locate and feel the space around yourself.
One of the Drama activities was when you were in a group of three or four and when Nicola called out a object, the group had to make that object in 10 seconds or less.

Psychological Drama
(Only one liar)

In this Drama activity, you sit in a circle and Nicola would tell us to close our eyes and Nicola would go around the circle and tap one of us on the shoulder.
(SPOILER ALERT!) On round 1 Nicola didn't tap anyone on the shoulder,
BUT... on round 2 Nicola tapped EVERYONE on the shoulder.

Ready, Set, Create!!! Today for Talent Development we did
some practice film making. Before we started filming, Katie showed us some techniques. She showed us panning, zooming and tilting effects. Rhylee and I were the first to film the interview of  Charlie and Travis.

When we finished filming, Travis and Charlie had their turn to film us completing an interview.

Some of the questions that Rhylee asked me were a bit hard and I felt put on the spot! (Some of us were stuttering for a few seconds.)

Next week we are going to edit our practice film and post it so you can have a sneak preview.

This purpose of this practice was so we know how to use the cameras, and next week, we will work out way through i-Movie editing.  We are going to start filming for real in Week 6/7.

The start of our screenplay...

Hi. Today the MADE Awards group started to write a screenplay for Bella the Bully-Proof Kid. A screenplay is like a script, but it includes all the detail of where your filming and the actions of the characters, as well as what they are saying to each other.  Katie gave us a copy of the screenplay for "The Lion King" We watched the opening scene - every single thing that happened on the screen, was written in the screenplay!

Here is a small bit of what we did today:

“Bella the Bully-Proof Kid”
By - Norton, Rhylee, Charlie and Travis
Norton=  Luna
Charlie=Billy
Travis=BJ

SCENE 1

EXT Waihopai School

Three children are standing in a circle out in a school playground.  BJ looks mad, BILLY and LUNA looked terrified! BJ is pushing at BILLY and LUNA.  The screen fades away as the title comes onto the screen. “ARE YOU BEING BULLIED?”

It was really hard to try and think of the ideas for the script.  We will keep working on this next week.

Tuesday 7 May 2013

Hello. Today for Talent Development we started planning for our MADE Awards commercial. We decided that we are going to do the Bully Proof Kid. Travis is going to play the part of the bully, Rhylee is going to be the Bully Proof Kid and Charlie and I are going to be the kids that get bullied. The message for our commercial is that bullying is NOT okay.

One scene that we are planning on doing is where Travis is bullying Charlie on the soccer field, then Charlie pulls out his phone and texts Bella the Bully Proof Kid who flies in and saves the day.

Another scene is where Travis is trying to take
my lunch. So I pull out my phone and text Bella the Bully Proof kid and she comes and saves the day again.

We are advertising Bella the Bully Proof Kid!  We think our commercial is going to be funny, but with a really good message in it.

Did you know that Katie slipped over in the sand dunes at Oreti Beach?
Today the MADE Awards group went to Oreti beach to take photos. We went in Rhylee's Mum's car. When we got there we walked around until someone found something to take photos of. We took photos of the sea, shells and the sand with drawings that we made. We drew smiley faces, our names and quotes like LOL. Then we got Katie to take a photo of me and Rhylee in two holes that were joined together. Then we went to the sand dunes and climbed all over them, but then Travis said "You do know there are better sand dunes down there." So we walked further down and took some more photos at the BIG sand dunes and then we played on them. (This is where Katie slipped over and when she did we all laughed and so did the two parent helpers). We all had a great time at Oreti Beach.

Photos are to come.  The cameras needed some time to dry out after a bit of drizzly weather this morning! They will come in next terms blog I promise.

MADE Awards Part 2

Today in the MADE Awards group we did a bit of a talk again about different camera angles.  Next, we went to the car park and took some photos. Katie said we had to take photos but we had to take them using all the different angles. We used birds eye view, long shot, worms eye view, mouse eye view and close up. Then we went to the other car park just beside Enrich. We were taking photos of flowers, trees and the lines across the ground.
When we came back to the Enrich parking lot Rhylee and I were taking photos of Bruce, Darryn's dog. When we came inside we imported the photos onto the laptops and watched what the others had taken photos of in a slide show. My favourite photos are Bruce in the car and the sun shining on a empty beer bottle because the bottles colour was reflecting on some stones and made them green.

Tuesday 2 April 2013

Today we started our Talent Development/Passion time projects. I am in Katie's group which is the MADE Awards. To start with, we are going to go to Oreti Beach to take photos of the wild-life and plants as part of the static image category.

Next, we are going to be making a commercial to enter the Year 4 -6 Commercial category.  One of our ideas is: The ROOM CLEANER 2013.
When your mum whines at you about cleaning your room you wait until she leaves and you move one of your photo frames and there is a button hidden there. You push the button and The Room Cleaner 2013 comes out and cleans your room in two seconds! So when you come out of your room and tell her that you have cleaned your room  she'll say: "No you haven't its only be two seconds." So she will walk into your room and will be stunned!

Tuesday 26 March 2013

Today Enrich went to Queens Park.
We went to Queens Park because we were focusing on patterns. At Queens Park Mia and I were taking photos of all the patterns we could find. We went to the rose gardens, the bird aviary and to see the animals.
We took photos of pigs, rabbits, wallabies, turtles, goats, clown face bird and hens/roosters.
The clown face bird is a bird with a white face, red lips and blue eyes (it's a Guinea fowl).  It was a good example of a pattern of survivability and beauty. A lot of the birds we saw had patterns of spots and lines on their feathers and the females were dull camouflage colours for survivability too.

One word: Maths! Today I did maths with Katie. In maths we did probability which is a bit like 'guesstimating' what is going to happen.  First we started with a dice.  There are 6 possibilities when you roll the dice - 1 2 3 4 5 6.  Each time you roll the dice, you have got a 1 / 6 chance of rolling each number, which as a percentage works out to be 16.6%!  We all drew tally charts to show all the outcomes and then Katie rolled the dice 50 times and we marked down the results.  We worked out our actual percentages.  Next, we did it again but this time we used a box of chocolates. MMMMMMM! First we had to work out how many chocolates there were.  Then we worked out how many of each flavour there was.  From this, we worked out the probability of pulling each flavour out.  We tipped all the chocolates into a basket and we all took turns to draw out a chocolate. We called out 'Moro' or 'Crunchie' and we recorded  our results.

We did 50 grabs, and then worked out our percentages.  We predicted that we would pull out Cherry Ripe and Turkish Delight the least, as there weren't as many of them, but we pulled them out heaps!  At the end Katie said we could have one chocolate each. I chose the Moro bar because it was my favourite chocolate.

NIcola's CRAZY singing/dancing group

Today I went to a Talent Development Tasters group. The group I was in was Nicola's music group. In Nicola's group we listened to different types of music and danced around CRAZILY until she told us to stop and sit down. Then she played us her favourite song ''My Life Would Suck Without You". She gave us a sheet of paper that had the lyrics on the back. Then she played the song and we sung to it. Nicola told us to bend your knees and your voice will go high, and she also taught us how to breathe when singing. Then we went outside and made complete fools of ourselves singing and dancing like mad people and I even think Tim Shadbolt saw us and the people who were fixing the roof next door were even looking at us doing the grapevine and dancing CRAZILY while singing the chorus.  IT was REALLY and I mean REALLY EMBARRASSING.

Ct

Hi everyone today at Enrich I played the Wilson game called The Hoop Game. In the hoop game you get into groups of three and set up hula hoops 3 meters away from the starting line. The rules of the game are you are not allowed to jump in the hoop by yourself you need to have everyone in the hoop, you have to jump at the same time, you can't touch the hoop with your feet. When Katie claps and says jump we need to jump but when she just claps or says jump you have to try and not jump. In my group I had Liam and Grace. We were trying so hard to be first group in the hoop, but we were beaten by Darryn's group instead. Matt's group came first and another group came second.

Hello today at Enrich we were told what we are going to focus on for Concept Curriculum. We are focusing on Patterns and what patterns are and the things that make patterns. Patterns are made up of shapes and colours that are repeated over again. Fibbanarci is a pattern in maths and the Kowhaiwhai panels are patterns as well. Patterns are all around you.
